Future Doctors and Scientists Program

July 5-27, 2018 (residential hall check-in July 4)

Register now! Space is limited. We suggest you pay by credit card to secure a spot. If you choose to pay by check the camp may be full by the time we receive your check.

You may register to participate in both the Clinical Skills and Research sessions of the program, or you may choose to attend only one of the two sessions.

Student Eligibility: Students in grades 9-12 and pre-college freshman between the ages of 15-18 years old. Please note that only 15 students will be accepted into the program. Students should have a strong interest and background in science to attend this camp. A class in biology and chemistry is required. A science teacher must complete the recommendation form indicating your performance in science classes and explaining your ability to participate in an academically rigorous summer research program. This recommendation must be received by Dr. C. Nathan Mowa (mowacn@appstate.edu) by June 1. If registering late (if space is available), then the teacher recommendation is due at time of registration.

 

Camp Details

Clinical Skills and Research

July 5-27, 2018 (residence hall check-in July 4)

Fees:

Early Registration= $5,100 with a $500 deposit due by February 1, full payment by March 30
Regular Registration= $5,200 with a $500 deposit due by March 31, full payment by June 1

The registration fee includes: 1) lodging in the residence hall (starting evening of Wednesday, July 4th, 2) meals (starting with breakfast on Thursday, July 5 through lunch on Friday, July 27th, 3) limited illness/accident insurance, 4) class notebook, lab and supplemental materials, and 5) a camp t-shirt and a set of scrubs. The deposit is due at registration.

Student Application: Complete this form in addition to this online registration. 
Teacher Recommendation: Have your science teacher complete and return this form by May 1 via email to mowacn@appstate.edu.


Clinical Skills Only

July 5-10, 2018 (residential hall check-in July 4)

Fees:

Early Registration= $1,500 with a $500 deposit due by February 1, full payment by March 30
Regular Registration= $1,600 with a $500 deposit due by March 31, full payment by June 1

 

Research Program Only

July 11-27, 2018 (residential hall check-in July 10)

Fees:

Early Registration= $4,000 with a $500 deposit due by February 1, full payment by March 30
Regular Registration= $4,100 with a $500 deposit due by March 31, full payment by June 1

 

Cancellation Deadline: May 15, 2018. Cancellations on or before May 15, 2018, receive a refund of registration fees paid less $500 for application fee. There are NO REFUNDS after May 15.



Transportation: Transportation to/from the Charlotte/Douglas International airport is available from The Hickory Hop(http://www.hickoryhop.com/BooneSchedule.html). Please schedule flights accordingly, planning for at least 3.5 hours of travel time between Charlotte and Boone using The Hickory Hop. 
Check-in: Wednesday, July 4th, 6:00-7:00 pm in residence hall lobby. 

Check-out: Friday, July 27th, 1:00 2:00 pm in residence hall lobby

Program/Camp Cancellation: Appalachian State University reserves the right to cancel this program. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment all fees remitted will be returned.
