2022 Summer Camp Registration:

The App State Innovate for Good initiative aims to increase diverse students’ awareness about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and career paths through series of hands-on programs. Specifically, the 2022 program aims to engage girls & boys in rising grades 5th to 10th in fun projects that utilize emerging technologies to address social problems. Some of the technologies that students will engage in are MIT’s App Inventor, MIT’s Scratch, Internet of Things (IoT), Lego Robotics/Sphero, and 3-D Design/printing, and Data Analytics/Visualization.

The weeklong camp will be held at Appalachian State University from Monday, July 25th - Friday, July 29th, 2022. Overnight campers will check-in Sunday July 24th between 2 and 4 pm. Day campers can check-in weekly between 8 and 8:45 am in the Walker College of Business lobby area. Pick up time for day campers will be between 4:15 and 5 pm. Separate accommodation will be provided for boys and girls who register for the residential option.

Program will be limited to 30 students in all.

Each student must complete the registration with a parent/guardian’s supervision. If more than one student from a single family is interested in participating, separate registration for each student must be completed. Transportation to and from ASU campus is the responsibility of the parent/ guardian. Upon completion of this registration, you will be notified within 5-7 business days of your acceptance into the summer camp. You will then receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to submit payment for the camp.

The cost of the day-program is $350 per camper (subsidized from $500 per student due to partial sponsorships). Lunch, t-shirt, flash drive and swag items will be provided as part of the program.

Residential program cost is $600 (also subsidized from $750 from same funding) and includes accommodation, evening activities, breakfast, lunch, and dinner in addition to above. Please note that a 3% transaction fee will apply.

You can also view information about prior year’s on-campus programs here. There will be several new sessions to the programming including Innovation/Entrepreneurship, being financially savvy, data analytics/visualization. Students who did the camp can repeat as they can select a different project and benefit from new activities.
