Program Type:
Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Courses
Program Name:
Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Courses

Appalachian State’s Hayes School of Music has hosted summer Orff-Schulwerk teacher education courses since 2002. The faculty features Dr. Maribeth Yoder-White (pedagogy and movement) and Dr. Lisa Runner (recorder) and includes a number of Appalachian faculty and regional instructors for daily special topics sessions. We presently offer Level I and Level III in the odd numbered summers and Level II and an Orff Extended one-week course in the even numbered. All two-week levels courses may be taken for 3 hours of academic credit if desired.

Participants in our teacher education courses may select from on or off campus housing and enjoy the wide-variety of restaurants in the Boone area. North Carolina’s High Country is waiting to be explored when homework is finished!
