Coach Erin Wykoff is in her first season as the throws coach at Appalachian State after coaching at McKendree University (2012-13), the University of Wisconsin (2013-14-Volunteer Coach) and Rider University (2014-15). The St. Jacob, Ill. native competed collegiately at Virginia and graduated from UVA in 2012. While there, she participated in the throwing events on the women's track team, specializing in the discus, hammer throw and weight throw and was a three-time NCAA East Regional qualifier. In the 2012 outdoor season, she was the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) discus champion. In 2011, Wykoff earned second-team All-American honors after finishing 12th in the discus at the outdoor NCAA championships.

Coach Wykoff's first season at App had a successful finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships. Thrower Nathan Milch finished second and set a new PR in the shot put, and thrower John Leonard finished seventh, also with a new PR. Thrower Brianna Tate, on her way to helping the Women's T&F/XC Team capture the school's first Sun Belt Conference title, placed fifth in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put.
